Photo Books

Just to let people know, the photo books I had in at the meeting last night two (with the black covers) were done by www.myphotobook.ie, the other one was done by http://www.aldiphotos.ie/.
On MyPhotoBook which is the one I would recommend, The prices start from around €40 for a 36 page "Classic" style which is the same type as the ones I had in and increase with the number of pages.
36 Pages - €39,95, 48 Pages €49.95
postage is then postage is €5 extra.

Aldi is slightly cheaper but I felt the quality of the Myphotobook one was better, there is alot of other companies doing similar products so you may be able to find it cheaper.

Irish Guide Dogs Photo Competition

I have just heard about the Irish Guide Dogs annual photo competition.  This link will show the entry form:

Closing date 1st June!   I was successful in this about three years ago and received nice cut glass award at a dinner in Maynooth!

Must be plenty of doggy photos out there among members?  Landscape format ones might stand a better chance.

Free Photo Editing software.

Looking for a cheaper alternative to Photoshop and Photoshop Elements? Then check out this great free download from FastStone. I came across this on www.PhotoAnwers.co.uk They have a breif video which explores this superb, comprehensive programme that's an image browser, converter and editor all rolled into one. FastStone Image Viewer's navigational screen offers some extensive features including a full screen mode with hidden toolbars that pop up when your mouse touches the four edges of the screen. Here is PhotoAnwers video verdict for an in-depth review. The programme can be download for free from www.faststone.org so for any members looking for some editing software to start out with give it a go or compare it with you current editing software.

Carrick Camera Club on FLickr

I want to thank everyone who came along last night it was such a good evening I didn't think we'd have as many as we did. There was a great entry to the nightly project 'Carrick' so well done to all who partisipated. Next meeting the theme is 'The River' so get out and get shooting.
I want to say thanks to Joe Cashin for setting up a Flickr site for the Camera Club the photos which are emailed to me for the nightly projects can be uploaded to this for all to see. I would still encourage everyone to set up there own account as this will allow you as an individual to comment on photos and more importantly to recieve comments on your photo's.
So come on and join in. Anyone who is on Flickr but there is no link with there name on the member list down the RHS please email me.

Thanks again

Francis

Make yourself an online photo book for FREE

Here is an idea for anyone with photo's on Flickr. You can make an online photo book of some of your photos then email to a friend or add it to you website. Here is an example of one I've made of images around the Comeragh Mts. Move you mouse over the corner of the page, hold down the left mouse button and pull the page open.

The book is made on a website call www.pimpampum.net
