New Club Year

As you all know the club's AGM took place this week. So I would like to take this oportunity to welcome you to our new Club year. The committee which was put in place in May of this year when the club was established have been asked to remain in place so that means Tom Grace is the club's chairman for the coming year, he is assited by Michael Hickey as vice Chairman.
If you have any suggestions or comments on the club please be sure to email me at carrickcameraclub@gmail.com, or better again use the new members area which can be accessed via the link on the top RHS of this page, in the members area you can leave comments, ask for advise, offer advise or simply chat with other members.

Congrats to Joe Cashin

Congratulations to CCC member, Joe Cashin, who won 1st prise in the County Museum/Denis McSweeny Here Today Heritage Tomorrow Photographic Competition for his photograph of "The Old Post Office". Well done Joe.
All competition entries will be on display in the County Museum in Clonmel until September 20th.

Clubs Photo Exhibition in Portlaw

As mentioned at the meeting yesterday we have been invited to present a Photo exhibition of the Carrick Camera Clubs images in Portlaw Library for the "Fair in the Square" which will be held in Portlaw on the 14^th September 2008, and the photo exhibition will run for the following week. 

We hope that all members will take part in the exhibition even if it is only with one image as it is a great opportunity to be part of a public photographic display prior to the Club staging its own exhibition in Carrick in the coming club year.

A number of people were asking about how to crop your image here is a turtorial from www.photoanswers.co.uk on the topic, as mentioned a number of time they have a great selection of tutorials on line, Also the "Digital Photo" magazine gives you up to three hours of tutorials on the CD included free every month so check it out.

Items of Note from meeting

Just following on from our meeting last night, the Dungarvan Camera Club exhibition runs until this Friday in the Library in Dungarvan, (on Davitt Key). The Kilkenny clubs exhibition details are on a blog below.

The software mentioned by Paddy Tubritt is Picasa it can be found here http://picasa.google.com/index.html. The software which I was using Faststone Image viewer, I had written about it already on the blog here. http://carrickcc.blogspot.com/2008/05/free-photo-editing-software.html 

The A3 photos which I had printed and showed last night were done by Photobox, www.photobox.co.uk

Heritage Week Photographic Competition in Clonmel

In the Heritage Week programme, (they have loads of them at Carrick Castle), and there's a photographic competition advertised in the County Tipperary section:

Here Today, Heritage Tomorrow - Participants are asked to submit photographs that they feel best represent life today that may be heritage in the future.

Kilkenny Photographic Society Exhibition

Kilkenny Photographic Society is holding their 25th annual exhibition during the Kilkenny Arts Week in the Club House Hotel, (in Kilkenny!), from August 8 - 17.
I believe Tony Oakey's exhibition is also in the Club House!
